Woodpeckers

The Woodpeckers have continued to impress everyone in school with their attitude to learning.  We have been looking at the work of Joseph Turner in Art, by creating some stunning watercolour pictures of the beach – the children have been particularly good at experimenting with more or less water in their work, to see the impact this has on colour.

In PE Year are practising their dribbling and defending skills and this week we used basketballs in teams.

RE saw us look at light as a symbol, in particular for Hinduism and the children created some lovely pictures and little diva lamps from salt dough.

Maths saw us continue to look at numbers to 100 and the focus is number bonds this week – they have been really keen to demonstrate their knowledge of these.

As we were doing our retelling of the Lighthouse Keepers Lunch, we needed to make sure our fingers were warmed up, so we had our favourite ‘dough disco’ – this helps to develop the children’s fine motor skills ready for writing.

They have worked so hard on their writing this week – Well done Woodpeckers.  Mrs Guilder and Mrs Knight are super proud of you!
